Traders and what they sell
SCUM has 4 trading outposts - A0, B4, C2, Z3 -
and the same shops stand in each one. What a trader will sell you depends on your fame,
not on what is in your pocket, and buying the rare things costs you some of that fame
back. These 2,284 items are what they deal in.

How fame works at a SCUM trader
Buying one extremely rare item costs 50 fame and selling
one earns 1.5, so it takes 33 sales to pay for a
single purchase. Looting pays almost nothing: one rarity out of six earns anything at
all, and it earns a thousandth of a point. These six figures are the game's and no
server can change them, unlike the prices.
| How rare it is | Buying costs | Selling earns |
Looting earns |
|---|
| Everywhere | 0.01 | 0.0001 | nothing |
| Common | 0.05 | 0.005 | 0.001 |
| Uncommon | 0.5 | 0.01 | nothing |
| Rare | 5 | 0.05 | nothing |
| Very rare | 25 | 0.25 | nothing |
| Extremely rare | 50 | 1.5 | nothing |
Where fame comes from in SCUM
Every action has its own figure. The biggest single award is
selling a vehicle at 2.5.
Every one of them is then multiplied by a curve that falls as you climb - 1 at 0 fame, 0.9 at 50 fame, 0.8 at 100 fame, 0.7 at 150 fame - so the same job pays less the more famous you already are.
| What you do | Fame it pays |
| Selling a vehicle | 2.5 |
| Getting away from a shark | 1 |
| Selling a wheelbarrow | 0.5 |
| Unlocking a kill box door | 0.5 |
| Picking a gold lock | 0.25 |
| Defusing a bomb | 0.25 |
| Picking a silver lock | 0.05 |
| Picking an iron lock | 0.025 |
| Treating a wound | 0.025 |
| Bringing in a harvest | 0.025 |
| Flying, a second | 0.01 |
| Building a garden | 0.00625 |
| Picking a rusty lock | 0.005 |
| Treating a crop | 0.0025 |
| Planting a seed | 0.001 |
| Pulling a weed | 0.001 |
| Taking someone else's base, a second | 0.0005 |
| Driving, a second | 0.00025 |
| Collecting seeds | 0.00025 |
| Holding your base, a second | 0.00005 |
The locks pay and charge at the same time
Every lock has an award for opening it and a penalty for each attempt, and the game
never shows them together. The middle ones cost you fame even when you get in first
go.
| Lock | Pays | Costs a try |
First-time pick |
|---|
| Picking a gold lock | 0.25 | 0.1 | 0.15 |
| Picking a silver lock | 0.05 | 0.142 | -0.092 |
| Picking an iron lock | 0.025 | 0.25 | -0.225 |
| Picking a rusty lock | 0.005 | 0 | 0.005 |
| Picking a dial lock | 0 | 0.025 | -0.025 |

Common questions
How do you earn fame in SCUM?
By selling to traders and by finishing their jobs, not by looting. Selling an extremely rare item earns 1.5 fame and buying one costs 50, so it takes 33 sales to pay for a single purchase. Looting earns nothing at all except on common items, which give 0.001. Every one of those figures is the game's own and no server can change it, unlike the prices.
How much fame does buying from a SCUM trader cost?
It depends only on how rare the thing is. Buying an item found everywhere costs 0.01 fame, and it climbs through 0.05, 0.5, 5, 25 to 50 for an extremely rare item. The table above says which tier every item sits in; this is what the tier is worth.
What fame do you need to buy from SCUM traders?
Every item has its own requirement, and none of the 2,284 on sale is free of one. The lowest line is 1, for Antibiotics - 1000mg, and the steepest is 340, for WolfsWagen. A trader will not deal with you for an item until you are over its line, whatever cash you are holding.
What will SCUM traders buy but never sell?
613 of the 2,284 items on the list. A trader will take them off you for cash and never stock them, which is worth knowing before you spend an hour looking for one to buy. The table filters to exactly those.
How many traders are there in SCUM?
7 shops, and the same 7 in each of the 4 outposts, so an outpost is a matter of which is nearest, not which sells what. 2 more stand there for a player who owns the Woodland Hunter Pack. What each one stocks, the fame it takes and what the purchase does to your reputation is all in the table above.
