SCUM Bunkers: Floor Plans and How to Get In | Ribbon Gaming

Bunkers

There are 23 TEC1 bunkers on the island, each in its own sector, and they are terrain rather than server configuration - the same wherever you play. Only the abandoned one has a layout the game itself publishes, on a sheet pinned beside its fuse boxes. The island also carries 43 far smaller WW2 bunkers across 19 sectors, none of them locked, which are a different thing entirely.

The four kinds of SCUM bunker

A bunker is not one building. 8 ordinary, 4 abandoned, 8 secret and 3 research facilities, and they have almost nothing in common. The abandoned, secret and research facility ones are each a single building placed at a different angle, so a plan of one is a plan of all of them. The 8 ordinary bunkers are each laid out differently.

Kind	Where	Doors	Floors	What is in it
Ordinary	A2, B0, B4, C1, D0, D3, Z0, Z2	13 to 52	-	6 to 71 ammunition boxes, 4 to 6 military lockers, 4 to 90 sets of storage shelves, 37 to 53 closets
Abandoned	A1, A3, C4, D1	78	2	3 small armouries, 29 military crates, 38 ammunition boxes, 6 military lockers, 28 sets of storage shelves, 45 closets
Secret	A4, B1, B3, C0, C2, C3, D4, Z3	1	-	1 lockpickable armour locker, 1 lockpickable explosives locker, 1 lockpickable pistol and shotgun locker, 1 lockpickable rifle and sniper locker, 1 small armoury, 1 tunnel down to it, 10 military crates, 3 ammunition boxes, 2 military lockers, 1 set of storage shelves, 4 closets
Research facility	B2, D2, Z1	14	-	1 purge laser over the arena, 4 creature rooms and their side rooms, 1 lobby floor

Every bunker has a page of its own: Abandoned Bunker A1 · Bunker A2 · Abandoned Bunker A3 · Secret Bunker A4 · Bunker B0 · Secret Bunker B1 · Research Facility B2 · Secret Bunker B3 · Bunker B4 · Secret Bunker C0 · Bunker C1 · Secret Bunker C2 · Secret Bunker C3 · Abandoned Bunker C4 · Bunker D0 · Abandoned Bunker D1 · Research Facility D2 · Bunker D3 · Secret Bunker D4 · Bunker Z0 · Research Facility Z1 · Bunker Z2 · Secret Bunker Z3.

The machines inside a SCUM abandoned bunker

A bunker is dark and shut until you work it. Every one holds 4 fuse boards, 16 keypads, 3 armouries and 1 BCU terminal. Each board takes one fuse and carries 8 switches, one per sector of its floor, and each sector draws 100 or 200 A: floor -1 draws 1100 A with every sector lit, floor -2 draws 1000 A with every sector lit. The biggest fuse in the game is 1000 A, so the upper floor can never be lit end to end and you are choosing what to power.

Fuse	Rating	How often it spawns
Fuse 200A	200 A	Common
Fuse 400A	400 A	Uncommon
Fuse 600A	600 A	Rare
Fuse 800A	800 A	VeryRare
Fuse 1000A	1000 A	ExtremelyRare

The armoury keypad

3 digits, so 1,000 possible codes. The code is not written into the game - the running server decides it - so no site can publish a list of them.

The BCU terminal

One in every abandoned bunker, and what it does is fill a memory module with data. A full module is a permanent point of Intelligence, fitted by the medical trader or by you if your Medical skill is high enough to risk it. There are four: Gray Memory Module (high data), Blue Memory Module (medium-high data), Purple Memory Module (medium data), Gold Memory Module (low data). They are worth the same and differ only in how much data they need, so the gold one is the one to carry.

The SCUM kill box: where it is, how to open it and what is inside

A kill box is a locked room holding the best equipment in the game, and a keycard is the only way in. Not every bunker has one: 12 of the island's 23 TEC1 bunkers do, in sectors A1, A2, A3, B0, B4, C1, C4, D0, D1, D3, Z0, Z2. That is all 8 ordinary bunkers and 4 abandoned bunkers, while the 8 secret bunkers and 3 research facilities have none at all. The card comes from one of 4 places: A cargo drop, A police station, A radiation zone, A sentry mech. The room gasses you on its own schedule, so take what you came for and get out.

What is inside is exact rather than a loot table: the game stores each package as a fixed list of items, so a package holds what it holds every time. There are 39 of them, holding 135 different things.

SCUM bunker noise: what wakes it up

An abandoned bunker listens. Noise builds while you are inside and it decides whether you loot the place or fight it: it wakes at 4 and hunts you at 5.5, with 0.75 more allowed for every extra squadmate. Stand still for 4 seconds and it starts falling again at 10 a second. The loudest thing on the list is not a gun.

What you do	Noise it makes
Opening any ordinary door	30
An explosion	20
Fireworks	20
Firing a gun	12
Landing a jump	8
Searching a container	5
Cranking a bunker door by hand	3
A chainsaw	2
Chopping something	2
Cutting something	2
A bullet hitting something	2
Dropping a chest	2
Firing a suppressed gun	2
A footstep	1.25
Loosing an arrow	1
A suppressed bow	1
Forcing a lock	0.3

Keycard	What it opens
Key Card	TEC 1 authorized access keycard for bunker and Killbox doors.
Key Card (Level 1)	Multi-use keycard for opening various sections of a bunker.
Key Card (Level 2)	Multi-use keycard for opening various sections of a bunker.
Research Facility Keycard	TEC1-authorized keycard granting access to restricted research blacksites.

Common questions

How many bunkers are there in SCUM?

23: 8 ordinary bunkers, 4 abandoned bunkers, 8 secret bunkers and 3 research facilities, each in its own sector. They are part of the island, so they are the same on every server. Within a kind they are usually one building placed at a different angle, so a plan of one abandoned bunker is a plan of all 4, but the 8 ordinary ones are each laid out differently.

What is inside a SCUM secret bunker?

Not much, which is the point: a tunnel down to a single armoury with 1 door. 4 lockpickable lockers sorted by what is in them (armour, explosives, pistol and shotgun, rifle and sniper), plus 10 military crates, 3 ammunition boxes, 2 military lockers, 1 set of storage shelves, 4 closets. You are not searching a complex for it.

How do you get into a SCUM bunker without waking it up?

By being quiet in the right ways. An abandoned bunker adds up the noise you make and wakes at 4, then hunts you at 5.5. The loudest thing on the list is opening any ordinary door at 30, well above firing a gun at 12, and the same gun suppressed is 2, so a suppressor is worth more down there than any amount of armour. Stand still for 4 seconds and the noise starts falling again at 10 a second.

Does a squad make a SCUM bunker harder?

Slightly easier, on the numbers. Every extra squadmate adds 0.75 to the noise the bunker will tolerate before it wakes at 4. That is not much, and four people opening doors will spend it in seconds.

What do the SCUM bunker keycards open?

4 cards, in the game's own words. Key Card: TEC 1 authorized access keycard for bunker and Killbox doors. Key Card (Level 1) and Key Card (Level 2): Multi-use keycard for opening various sections of a bunker. Research Facility Keycard: TEC1-authorized keycard granting access to restricted research blacksites.

What is the code for the armoury in a SCUM bunker?

Nobody can tell you, and any site that prints one is guessing. The keypad takes 3 digits, so it is one of 1,000 codes, and the code is not fixed in the game: the server you are playing on picks it. The machine tells you straight away whether the code you punched in was right.

What fuse do you need for a SCUM bunker?

As big as you can find, and it still will not light everything. Fuses run 200 A up to 1000 A and they spawn inside the bunker itself, on the shelves and in the boxes. Each floor is split into 8 sectors and every sector you switch on draws its own load: level -2 needs 1000 A to light end to end, which a 1000 A fuse just covers, and level -1 needs 1100 A, which nothing in the game covers. On that floor you are always choosing which sectors to power.

Why will the doors not open in a SCUM bunker?

Because the sector they are in has no power. 55 of the 97 doors that open in an abandoned bunker are wired to the bunker's own supply, so until you have put a fuse in a board and thrown the switch for that sector, they are walls. The rest you work by hand.

How do you upgrade your BCU in SCUM?

At the terminal in an abandoned bunker. It fills a memory module with data, and a full module is a permanent point of Intelligence. There are 4: Gray Memory Module needs high data, Blue Memory Module needs medium-high data, Purple Memory Module needs medium data, Gold Memory Module needs low data. They are all worth the same point, so the Gold Memory Module is the one to carry. Take the finished module to the medical trader to have it fitted, or do it yourself if your Medical skill is high enough to accept the risk of failing.

How do you get into the kill box in SCUM?

With a keycard, and the game will only give you one in 4 places: a cargo drop, a police station, a radiation zone, a sentry mech. Not every bunker has one: 12 of the island's 23 TEC1 bunkers do, which is all 8 ordinary bunkers and all 4 abandoned bunkers, while the 8 secret bunkers and the 3 research facilities have none at all. A card is not tied to a sector, so the one you find opens the nearest door you can reach rather than one particular bunker.

What is inside a SCUM kill box?

39 packages holding 135 different things, and they are fixed lists rather than loot tables: a package holds the same items every time. The AWM package, for instance, is AWM, .338 Ammunition Box, .338 AP Ammunition Box, .338 Tracer Ammunition Box, AWM Magazine, P-223 Scope. The room fills with gas on a timer, so it is a smash and grab and not a place to loot carefully.
